Moshimo Ashita Ga Harenaraba, If It Is Clear Weather Tomorrow

After going through too many missions battling endless numbers of minions mana golems in Seinarukana, I finally decided to take a break and begin with yet ANOTHER game to unwind. Little did I realize that this title is not exactly a blissful romp in the merry meadow.

Due to my lurking at Sankaku Complex, I stumbled upon this video and Choux‘s question for one of the OP’s. So like a trained stalker, I hunted it down and slew the link at her like a crazed lunatic throwing a cream pie at some random celebrity. What I didn’t know was that the cream pie itself was pretty darn tasty. I grabbed it after only hearing the voice files from the character page. The two sisters, Nonosaki Akiho and Tsubasa, were voiced by Komugi Nishida and Miru. I liked Nishida’s performance as Krille in Nursery Rhyme and she shows off her more playful side on this one. Miru voiced the younger of the two and amazingly enough, she didn’t use her usual high-pitched, squeaky tone. Okay, so it was a bit high but the squeakiness factor went down so it was a pleasant change.

Moshimo Ashita Ga Harenaraba (I am going to call it by its shorter name Moshiraba because it’s a hell of a lot easier) is a title made by Palette, the same company who also made Sakura Strasse which is an excellent game in my opinion. I am hesitant to review Strasse because I’ve only played through one route but that hasn’t stopped me before. Anyway after installing it and playing the beginning, I have to say that this is one bittersweet tale. The story starts off with the Nonosaki sisters being taken in by the motherless family of Hatoba Kazuki because their parents were killed in an accident. The reason why Kazuki’s father took them in is because no one else in the family are willing to take them and that made him furious. What makes this momentous is that the Hatoba’s are distant relatives so that means no one in the immediate and extended family wanted them. Despite his initial misgivings, Kazuki is a good-natured fellow and warmly welcomes the remaining Nonosakis. The three quickly became good, close friends.

The game then takes a time jump of ten years, showing Kazuki and Akiho in the same year of high school. One day, Kazuki confesses to the elder sister, Akiho, that he likes her and she responds with joy for she had always liked him too. Now that they are officially a couple, Akiho asks him to take her to the beach once summer begins and he happily consents. However, fate holds another thing in store for them and it will not be a happy one. A sudden illness sweeps over Akiho and not long after, she passes away, leaving Kazuki and her younger sister, Tsubasa behind. With their onee-san gone, the remaining pair must now continue their lives without her.

Damn, this game is already pulling at my heartstrings with its bittersweet beginning and now the girl that I want to go for first already DIEZ!? During the entire funeral, all I’ve been doing was screaming, “WHHHHAAAAAAAAAATTTTT?!?!?!?”. I haven’t even reached to the music opening yet and they’re already setting off freaking landmines under my feet! This eroge has totally hooked my attention and I will definitely continue on with this title. I only curse at how late I was in actually finding this! I guess those guys at Getchu aren’t all just corporate heads when they gave this game “the best game” seal on it. Well they also gave Itsusora the seal too and they weren’t wrong about that.

Sora Uta, from FrontWing, is quite like this game in that one of the heroines dies during the beginning of the game. Yeah. :D

Have Moshiraba (I think…somewhere on a DVD-R within my pile of DVD-Rs), but haven’t played it yet. Have played some of Sora Uta though, and it’s quite good (I haven’t played what people have said is the best route in the game yet, I think).

You just add another one title in my backlog list. This one went out of my radar, since I don’t expecting this kind of theme. I haven’t got to Sakura Strasse yet, but maybe this one is much suitable for me.
    Long Live Tragedy! XD

  3. Algester Says:

yes i too have moshiraba but still havent managed to get it into my library of backlogs which i became too lazy apparently akiho is still winnable @_@ dont worry take it easy how i knew this regardless not being in my backlog or was in my backlog apparently thx to sagaoz and CGs (savedata)

@Newprimus: Good lord you’re laying another good looking game and I already acquired this one in my increasing backlog. WRRRRYYY?!?

@Kresnik: Sakura Strasse is more light-hearted, but there is some heart-wrenching moments in there that you’ll enjoy. I have to ask whether you’re a closet sadist ’cause you really like seeing characters in great pain and turmoil.

@Algester: HOORAY! ALL IS NOT LOST! ICHAICHAING WITH A GHOST IS FINE TOO!

Must resist urge to spoil story…

I must admit I’m bored in regards to eroge as I’ve finished my backlog, I’ve played all the eroge in video you linked to, don’t feel like translating Itsusora (as I’ve reached a frustrating scene), and Liarsoft hasn’t released ~What a beautiful tomorrow~ (the eroge where Agatha Christie is a blond haired loli) yet.

I guess I’ll go play Violent Semen Inferno…

  6. Kresnik Says:

@m3rry: Closet Sadist..? Well, I don’t think so, then again I don’t really know. But what makes a great story isn’t about happy and moe things all the time, but sadness and suffering. Compared to Hemi whose radar goes when he detects a bishoujo, mine goes when I detect good or superior story.

@sterling01: So is that means we have been abandoned?! Guess I need to find a rather huge slot of time to play it then.. >_>

  7. Algester Says:

ahh shitz you want story go play purely god dam @_@… its good very good yes its too is quite tragic for the osananajimi route but its good

  8. sterling01 Says:

@Kresnik: I didn’t say I’ve given up translating itsusora. I just don’t feel like doing that scene now… Anyhow I’ve made too much progress to just give up.

  9. m3rryweather Says:

@Kresnik: I do agree with you on that and I do enjoy some good dramatic twists and turns. I just sometimes associate the word “tragedy” with Shakespearean plays like Hamlet. In that play, there is not a single uplifting scene and everyone dies in the end so I assumed you’re the type of guy who thrives from those kind of stories.

@Algester: Man I should just help you advertise Purely from all your rabid ravings about it.

@sterling01: Wow, I can’t imagine an empty backlog. Do you have lots of time on your hands or are you selective in your choices?

  10. sterling01 Says:

    I’m very selective

  11. Algester Says:

nah dont help me as theres always hemi who too was raving about it
