Tsuntsun Heartbreak
So you all know I’m playing around five eroges at once. I like to keep my options open when I become weary of one story and want to jump to another. Hey, after many years at least I finish most of them right?
I haven’t played Hoshizora No Memoria in ages and I’m sick of looking at the same status so I’m trudging ahead once more with the frigid ice queen, Isuzu. In case people don’t know how tsuntsun she is, talking to her is like asking to be stabbed by an icicle and having it twist around in your stomach. She’s not exactly the most pleasant person as the majority of her lines are like, “It’s fine if you will just die.”
So this goes on for at least two-thirds of the route and I’ve reached another ‘walk to school’ routine with You, the hyperactive and annoying Chinami, and the cold and indifferent Isuzu. Chinami is doing the usual “Oniichan will be my boyfriend because I wuv him very much,” and I expected Isuzu to throw out some barbed comment. By now, I am already accustomed to her snide and indirect insults. So you can imagine my surprise and consternation when I saw this.
Did I just hear that right? DID SHE JUST SAY HE CAN’T BE HER BOYFRIEND BECAUSE HE’S MINE? WAT IZ DIS I DUN EVEN-
Dayum, now I’m really understanding why Kresnik likes these kind of girls. Having patience and perseverance really pays off. But don’t worry, I’m not touching her yet.
I need to do an in-depth study on how huge amounts of tsuntsun affects the potency of the remaining traces of deredere.
(Speaking of deredere, I’m really slightly unnerved by Leon’s change to his kind and gentle side.)
Currently, I’m past the part where Mare “kills Isuzu’s nightmare” and sh*t hits the fan. This is painful to watch. My heart aches.

Go ahead with your in-depth study, but:
1. Aren’t there various types of tsundere factors?
2. Which will you place more priority on, your ‘probably finish in a few years’ games or the study?
I think the only tsundere guy I can recall was from Fairy Tail’s latest arc: ‘I didn’t do this for you or anything, ok?’, so I guess that term is more limited to females.
I recall this character from Family Project that was like Isuzu, except she was more along the lines of venomous ice goddess, rather than a simple ice queen. Her auto-insult reaction was funny though.
Some things you can consider in your study:
1. How much tsun is too much? (Girl is too bitchy too like)
2. When you say huge amounts, are you talking quantity (tsun lasts very long) or quality (like Isuzu, you get a huge perspective switch)?
3. Potency of deredere… pure dere, or slight mix would be better?
On second thoughts, you might as well go with your games, probably will take less time.

Okay m3rry, that’s as far as you play. You already understand how good she is and that’s more than enough.
Now stop playing before you did something unforgivable to her!!

I happen to be playing the game also, but I’m so much earlier in the game. At my rate, your few years is nothing. I’m closer to decades behind. Anyway, in the game, Komomo seems more like a normal tsundere to me, but I’m so early in the game I haven’t even met her.
And you’ve finally realized the awesomeness of tsundere. There are too many variations, so I don’t think all of them are great. Going too much into either direction ruins it for me.

Isuzu’s a bit too tsun for me. There’s dere, but it pops up so little that I can’t appreciate it well. I used to not care for tsunderes that much, but there’s some that I don’t mind (like Prim from Primary). Quick transitions from tsun to dere rather than persistent tsun. Then again, this is coming from someone who likes amaenbou chars.

Tsundere is old and busted. Dandere is the new hotness
@Kresnik: That will only encourage him
October 1st, 2009 at 4:42 pm
@Wrathkal: LOL, thanks for making it even more COMPLICATED. I need a whole team of researchers on the double!
@Kresnik: I’M ALL REVVED UP AND ALREADY TO THE POINT OF NO RETURN! TIME TO HOP ABOARD THE ISUZU CHOO CHOO! WOOHOO!
@Reikon: The common route is the longest so I wouldn’t be too worried. There are way too many days focusing on Chinami.
@Micchi: You sure love those clingy bishoujos, not that I blame you. I take it you’re not a hardcore masochist.
@Sterling01: I like DANDERES TOO! AND HOLY CRAP you’re famous!
October 1st, 2009 at 6:43 pm
@Micchi: I think Prim turns too deredere and too quickly. Tsundere need some edge left in them.
@m3rry: Lots of days focusing on Chinami? Shiiiit. I want to smack her with a frying pan or something so she’d SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Errr, well after You moves in and starts interacting with everybody in school it’s not as bad but I too have sudden urges to lock her up in the closet.
ONIICHANONIICHANONIICHAAAAAAAAAAAN!
October 1st, 2009 at 10:54 pm
@m3rry: that’s why I said, might as well give it up and go try to clear your games before the next month’s join your backlog. Is that pic on desudesu by Sterling? If so, then lol, you really can see the similarity.
Clingy characters are okay, just so as long as they don’t talk at a mile a minute.

Chinami was only imouto that I could barely tolerate. The first few days of the common route were aggravating.
ONIICHANONIICHANONIICHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!

@Wrathkal: I’m trying man, but all these companies release so many good-looking eroges that it sometime feels like a lost cause. Well, I guess I’ll never run out of games to play.
@Micchi: The beginning was plain torture. I never thought unpacking and settling in a new home was so taxing on the mind.

Hi there i know about your blog recently and really like it xD
I found it nice to know you’re playing some otome games and it’s fun to see you get teasing xD
Today i found out about the term Otomen and i think you’re one. Okama is etoh… maybe a little… too much ? xD but Otomen is great ^o^ way to go M4rry-san ^o^
p/s : Tsundere are great as long as they’re not too violent <'3 considering how that's most of girls/guys are nowadays i dont think it can be old
what is dandere btw ?
October 3rd, 2009 at 6:55 pm
WHAT? I’m so manly I break bricks with my own head! ME HULK SMASH! Awww! A kitty! ^_^ OH CRAP CAN’T LET PEOPLE SEE!
Danderes are quiet and usually emotionless who only show their deredere side if alone with that special sweetheart. One example would be Setsuna from School Days or Eiji from Kimikiss Pure Rouge. I-I-It’s not like I watch them sappy romance shows or anything! I just happen to glance at them in passing!

Finally… nearing completion of Princess Lover… Hardly as engaging as any of the games the VN bloggers deal with, but its okay enough for me. Overall, I find that Seika with her tsundere personality makes her much more interesting than Charlotte with her innocence, Sylvia with her straightlaced personality, or Yuu with her submissive behavior. Points for tsundere, especially the ones where the tsun personality slowly melts away to reveal the dere side, occasionally coming back if something is done to evoke jealousy.
Oh, the anime could have been so much better now that I played the game… which was why I played it in the first place.
October 5th, 2009 at 6:03 pm
So thats Dandere. You learn something new everyday.
October 6th, 2009 at 2:42 pm
@Wrathkal: I never played Princess Lover nor watched the anime so I wouldn’t know anything. If you say it’s good then there must be some merit. But I feel we can both agree that tsunderes are awesome.
@Avisch: Ayup. Danderes have a strong following from all those fanboys of Ayanami and Nagato.
October 6th, 2009 at 5:23 pm
m3rry won’t like Princess Lover because it has pissing and preg
October 6th, 2009 at 7:54 pm
@Sterling: Two preg scenes, and just about 1 pissing scene for every girl.
Next up, 11eyes. Just as the anime is coming out, WOOT.
October 8th, 2009 at 12:59 am
@Sterling01: That SOB better marry both those girls for the sake of the children!
@Wrathkal: WHOO! Golden showers for everyone! 11eyes is a sweet choice! Lots of action, flashy powers, hilarious characters, and smexy bishoujos all in one! The anime will only butcher the experience!
