Flyable Heart (Mini) Review

I chose Kururi because she's cute and makes a nice pose.

Because it’s been delayed for so long and there are two other reviews overflowing with awesome content, I’ll make this short…yeah right.

I’m not going to bother with blabbering on about stuff that is already written in other sources. Hell, even wikipedia has an entry on this game. That’s just weird. If you guys want to read about the incredibly nauseating details on INTRIGUING and INVIGORATING topics such as the system engine than check out his brick-shatting post right here. If fapping to numerous screenshots of the pink text box is not your thing, you can read Micchi whining about Mayuri because he doesn’t know anything and Zen’s wisdom, click here.  So I’ll go straight to the characters and my thought-provoking insights. Oh yeah, you know this is going to be horrible good.

Katsuragi Syo: He eats a lot. The guy is truthful, a straight-man and he wears his heart on his sleeve. He is pretty caring and usually enjoys everyone’s company and why wouldn’t he? I swear the school is 75% female! I’d be hopping with glee! Despite Accany and Zen’s impressions of him as ‘average’ (which I can understand), Syo has a number of good qualities. He’s honest, understanding, caring, and not stupidly dense. I guess Syo’s flaws are that he can be too emotional at times and it’s easy to make him the butt of many jokes.

yui-kiss

Inaba Yui (CV: Ogura Yui) also eats a lot. She’s pretty genki and optimistic. For some odd reason there is a raccoon tail attached to her back and I still do not know what purpose it serves. Yui is pretty cute though and it’s funny to see her do really wacky stuff.

amane-packets

Sumeragi Amane (CV: Miyazawa Yuana) is what I thought as the obligatory tsundere, but I think it surprised me and a number of others when she revealed herself to be more of an awkward ojousama. She’s pretty deredere and it’s awesome to see her embarrassed. And trust me, she finds herself in many embarassing situations. (mostly caused by her oniisan, Souryu)

Show ▼

sakurako-piggyback

Minase Sakurako (CV: Okajima Tae) is very polite, gentle, and innocent. Her health is poor so she does not have many occasions for strenuous, outdoor activities. Despite Sakurako’s unfortunate circumstances, she has great appreciation to the little things in life and depending on how you look at the situation, it also gives her some special opportunities.

Show ▼

mayuri-garden

Shirasagi Mayuri (CV: Suzumori Chisato) is the mature upperclassman. Exuding an aura of elegance and grace, she appears to be perfect in almost every single way. She is best friends with Sakurako and are frequently seen together. I don’t know what else to say because I’ll be spoiling stuff, but she is my favorite bishoujo.

Show ▼

kururi-beach

Kujou Kururi (CV: Chatani Yasura) is the loli inventor and like every other reviewer says, a genius. She helps create mechanical creations with her partner Gumi. In the beginning, she is very distrustful to Syo and it lasts for a long time. However, Kururi eventually becomes “kind” when she discovers his genetic material is the answer to her important experiment.

Show ▼

suzuno-rain

Yukishiro Suzuno (CV: Fujimori Yukina) is supposedly a ghost. She’s pretty shy and clumsy but that’s mostly from failed attempts to phase through doors. Apparently, only Syo, Yui and Maxx are able to see her but no one else can. She can still stumble into objects and cause a ruckus for others to notice. Overall, I find her to be pretty cute in a helpless sort of way.

Show ▼

The story is as always pretty fluffy and lovey-dovey. One thing I did notice from Unisonshift Blossom games is that the hero, heroine, or both are strongly committed to the other. The theme is especially strong in many of the storylines. That’s cool and also perfect for the hopeless romantic in me. What makes this one different from the others is the how all the routes are interconnected and each one reveals more of the game’s universe. I find it pretty interesting and it kept me going to its final completion.

Music from Ryo Mizutsuki is as always enjoyable in my opinion. I do not think it tops the tracks from Nanatsuiro Drops and the Peace@Pieces soundtrack will always be my personal favorite, but it is a good listen.

Nothing much to say about the system but the other reviewers complain too much about the “tiny X” in the text box. Seriously, who EVER turns off the text box, let alone on a frequent basis?

So what do I think of this game? I like the light yet in-depth story, beautiful illustrations, and emotive voice acting. It’s good and I encourage this title for the romance lovers out there.

It's as filling as a giant bowl of beans!

No bricks were shattered while I made my review. >.>. The only thing that went missing was cans of beer.

Looking back, I still don’t think flyable heart gave me a satisfactory ending but heck it was funny enough to make me laugh.

AND YES ANOTHER MAYURI SUPPORTER. DAMNED m3rry. YOU ARE THE MAN.

  2. Algester Says:

uhh apparently at the end of suzuno’s route syo used kururi’s invention to make the necessary time jump of 500-1000 years or so

MMMMmmm mayuri the route the epicly shocked me to proportion so kudos lol <_< still why 1 H scene and the ending is like WTF factor

as for the last CG… its apparently red bean rice which is amane’s favorite according to her brother

  3. Micchi Says:

You’ve all just been conditioned to like Mayuri. I get Yui all to myself hurray. ^o^

Regarding Yui, let’s just put it this way. When the twins thing came up, my eyes lit up and gave me more reason to see more of it. And if you consider the ending, Zen and I thought it probably would be considered pseudo-masturbation but with much more satisfaction?

I take a few hundred screenshots per game, so that X was kinda important.

Ahhhh the Shou+Yui bed scene. My favorite. Actually, I’ll go rewatch that part again.

  4. johnishida Says:

I always wondered but… I don’t really think Suzuno used time-travel to make Syo go back and re-do all the stuff that went wrong the first time.

To me, it was more like she simply sent him back to his original dimension but, for reasons that I think were explained but don’t remember, the Flyer sent Syo to the same day all that stuff but, his world. This creates the illusion of a loop. In what do I base this? Neither Yui or Sakurako were present during he loop or after them. It’s kind of cruel to think that, without knowing, Syo left the parallel world’s Amane alone with her despair but, I believe that is what actually happened.

    @Algester
If I remember right… Syo didn’t have to travel 500-1000 years into the future. The profiles says he only waited around 10-20 years. Suzuno lied to him when she said she was from a very, very far future.

I agree with you… Mayuri route itself was great but, he ending wasn’t what I expected.

    @Micchi
Sorry, you got competition here. Yui is mine :P

  5. Micchi Says:

Ya, I thought that was what happened too, but I didn’t remember if Yui and Sakurako were still there. As for Suzuno’s route, it wasn’t a long time, but that’s sure some dedication. GJ Shou.

No, Yui is mine >< You can have Kururin.

  6. Sterling01 Says:

I wish there was a bro route with Souryu

  7. m3rryweather Says:

@Accany: YES! I’M THE MAN! \o/ It’s Mayuri all the way!

    @Algester: I didn’t mean he waited 500-1000 years. He’ll die.

@Micchi: Hmm, I’ll still feel uncomfortable with the whole prospect. I can’t even think of a female version of myself. It gives chills down my spine. *BRRRR*

@johnishida: That does sound like a viable explanation. Dang it, figuring out whether the Flyer is using its time or dimension traveling capabilities is confusing the heck out of me.

@Sterling01: Oh god, that would be so damn hilarious. Though I’m amazed you left Kei out. 0_0

  8. dawningblue Says:

The scene with the beans and rice is funny because because it’s a traditional dish served to a girl when she, er, “becomes a woman.” Yeah, Souryuu was congratulating his sister on the anniversary of her first period. No wonder Amane was freaking out!

  9. m3rryweather Says:

Why freak out when there’s some sweet red beans and rice to partake? XD And welcome to the site! I don’t think I’ve seen you around before but enjoy yourself if you like inane ramblings!

  10. Kresnik Says:

Nah, Yui is not your other self. She is more like Syo’s lost interdimensional twin sister. Remember 11eyes? I’m sure both of them used the same mechanism.
And it would be better to have Nadeshiko route so Syo can have a manly showdown with Kei, or Chihaya route so Syo will become father of Soryuu and Amane. In case someone didn’t notice it, Nadeshiko and Chihaya have the same VA.

  11. m3rryweather Says:

Hmm, now that makes me curious as to where Yui is in Syo’s original universe. Oh well, I guess we’ll never know. (?)

    Yes! YES! NADESHIKO ROUTE PLEASE! I want more Kei nosebleeds and showdowns! Dude, the whole Chihaya scenario you came up with is one screwy idea but I admit she deserves some loving too. She’s one pitiful character. ;_;

  12. Kresnik Says:

It’s simple. Yui died inside the womb in Syo’s original universe, while Syo died instead of her in the alternate universe.
And I’d like a hax patch to win Soryuu’s stupid games.

  13. m3rryweather Says:

Crud, I completely forgot about that.

Don’t you know Souryu always have god mode?

  14. Candi Says:

i must say, the art is pretty good (ignoring the ero stuff) and i wanna play it, it seems like fun. but i wanna play it online. i cant find ittt

  15. m3rryweather Says:

Well I’m not exactly sure what you mean by playing it online as it is not an online game. However, you can obtain this game via torrent or by directly downloading the pieces in certain websites. Google is your friend.

  17. Koji Oe Says:

Hi, just found this site while searching for Flyable Heart. It’s my first visual novel. I just finished Amane’s route just recently. Good stuff. Although, I’m not quite sure why her brother was being such a douche though. Didn’t quite understand that plot point.

Loved the Amane x Shou bits. They make an extremely cute couple. Your write up of Shou’s qualities is interesting because I found him to be average but what you wrote makes me see him in a different light.

I don’t want to go through everyone else’s route since Amane is the only character that really interested me, but I think it’s cool that it is interconnected like that plus has this alternate dimension thing going on.

So, if there is an alternate reality thing, how is it that Shou’s dad appears at the end of Amane’s route?

  18. m3rryweather Says:

Welcome! Yeah, Amane’s route was a bit confusing for me too. Soryuu’s behavior was extreme but I don’t know anything about how people are affected from infidelity in the family. I’m guessing that because they’re only half-siblings, there is feeling of distance. Also the mother’s irrational and violent lashing out at Soryuu in the past made the rift grew further. It’s a complicated situation. =/

johnishida has explained that the reason why Shou’s dad appeared was because he returned back to his own world.
